Curb chain hook digging?

This only occurred yesterday after a ride. No more pressure on the curb than normal and it hasn't happened before but I noticed just a small scratch which the left hand hook would have done. How can I stop this? It doesn't face inwards, so I'm not sure how it managed to turn in and get her.

Someone - Nic / Fran from Diamonds in the Rough has found a really good solution to this. Helpfully I cannot remember their HHO user names or what the solution is. Hopefully someone else has a better memory.

I use small stainless steel carbine/carabiners that are available on eBay. Ever since I lost a curb chain, and nearly my life!, out hunting.

You need 3mm x 30mm sold on eBay for less than a pound each.

On a pelham put the curb chain through the top rein rings, this takes the hooks well away from the skin.

Brilliant idea. I hate the hooks! Does this only work on a pelham type bit though? I have a kimblewick, hoping the clips aren't too chunky to fit through the holes?

On a pelham put the curb chain through the top rein rings, this takes the hooks well away from the skin.

....but also interferes with the action of the bit.......The flat polo curb hooks work well.
