Current price of horse boxes?!

probably a 3.5t is best as I only want to carry one

Armas do tell ??

contact kate at three counties horseboxes - they do convert them themselves - but i know she has a little red one in she took in part ex (its not on the website) - speak to her and if she doesnt have what u want she can prob find it!!! if not at least give you some advice too!

What's interesting is I've been looking for an automatic for about 3 years now...

When they do come up the seller puts a ridiculous price on them and you see them week after week coming down on ebay 1k here, 1k there until they finally hit what they are worth...there's one on there right now started at 12 grand, down to 9750, prob worth about 2.5....

Greediness....

I have an auto - took me forever to find it!!! - there is one on ebay now - think its an older one but i still have the search saved and it emailed me the other day - think thats a cargo

I rang up about a Leyland Daf last night, V reg, 12 months MOT, good condition and just had (she said) about 2k spent on it, 3 horse, living, No price on advert, was just going to arrange to see it as it was very near me when I asked the price. £12k! Not what I was expecting..... Maybe it is worth that? I just thought it was a bit overpriced but maybe I'm wrong. I've got an M reg Leyland Daf, very reliable but not the prettiest to sell it has 11 months MOT, passed easily, electric ramp and very basic living, sink, fridge, bed and good solid floor, cut through to cab, easy drive - any ideas what I could expect to get for it?

I just paid £6750 for a 95 7.5 ton Daf with 12 months MOT 6 months tax and a full tank of gas if that gives you an idea. Electric ramp no sink or fridge ;-(
But is perfect for my needs. I suppose you pay what you think some thing is worth.
My trainer reckons its worth about £17000 if I can register it in France !

Theres such a variance... We're about to sell out horsebox as mum is 66yrs and not going out very much these days so going back to a trailer.
Hers is a Coachbuilt Leyland Daf 45/130 'v' reg, cut through and Luton. Living is not fitted, but fully carpeted with laminate flooring and partitioned off cupboard (or loo). Very well looked after, and just plated for 12 months. Has tack lockers but with a sloped checker plate top, and others in the skirt etc. Will take 2 x 17.2hhs easily as loads of headroom, but 16-17ft behing cab (need to get the tape
Measure out) We were thinking £13k Ono, but really don't know. We've owned it since is was coachbuilt from chassis up by Lune Valley horseboxes . Really not sure what we should be asking or the best place to advertise

I must read this thread in detail as we have a 96 DAF 7.5T with a top quality coachbuilt body with heating, shower and toilet, horse shower etc that we keep thinking about selling and I have no idea how much to look for. We now have an HGV and should really come to a decision about selling it but after 7 reliable years I'm really very fond of it. Maybe I'll come to a decision after it has 12 months plating this month.

Thanks. a friend has rang and said she is selling hers as no longer has a horse, if that doesn't work out I will her

hey, yes there's a cargo for 5k but it's a wreck...and there's a dodge [22 years old] they wanted 12k...we are now down to 10k....I will wait until they realise it's worth about 3k....

Yes i saw the dodge a while back and thought was overpriced!!

Ive got a Dodge and its a challenge to get bits for it but not impossible. Theres an actual Dodge 50 website where we source our bits from. Must admit I agree with the £3k price tag though ... ive had mine about 5 years and only paid £6k for it back then!

Well we have just sold an R reg professional conversion 3.5 tonne for £4700 (think we may have sold it too cheap) and just bought as of yesterday a 6.4 tonne R reg Iveco for £6800. I still think that’s pricey but similar ones have been advertised for £10k plus. We did manage to knock 1k of the asking price.

I am upgrading from a fab 3.5t to a 7.5....
Was offered none named g reg 7.5 with over 500k km on clock for 12k, which I thought was too pricy......
I think I will have to sell mine first and start looking on websites.....

Hmm I've just bought a 6.6 ton dodge for £3250. Two horse, living with fridge, heating, water etc. full service history, 6 months tax and test and I feel I paid a fair price!

Works both ways though people expect something for nothing. I have a 2 yr old trailer for sale in mint condition never had any issues with it someone offered me £1500 for it bearing in mind I paid just short of £4000 for it just under 2 years ago. It is a buyers market but sellers aren't mugs either. I would rather keep it than give it away!!

hmm - so I'm currently looking and have seen a Ford Cargo (J reg), Box built in 2004. £6,500. Do people think thats reasonable? Getting mixed messages about Cargos though, so not sure if worth a look.

I'm another one looking at the moment, but don't have a huge budget, £2.5 - £3k, but only want a basic box to take up to 3 small horses (15 - 15.2hh) with no living, just a tack space. (Don't need living, and it adds to payload)

I'd done a bit of research and as I'll probably be looking at something quite old (I've found ads for E reg to M reg in that price) I had heard that Fords can suffer with rust, and although I haven't ruled them out I'd been looking more at Leyland Daf/Roadrunners.

I just quoted you on the other horsebox thread :D

I was ideally looking for a Leyland, but getting a short box is hard enough so I'm thinking I might have to compromise ?!

Lizziebell, I've seen an ad for a Leyland, just under 21ft, is that of any interest?

I'll PM you the link just in case! :)
