Current Prices for Gelding a Shetland Please.

Hi, I have a 9 month old Shetland Colt whom I'd like gelded, does anyone know approximate cost these days? Also vet say's that the pony would be required to go to their surgery for the procedure and for the operation to be done on a table like a dog. I was quite surprised at this, is this usual for little uns? TIA
 
It's sometimes common for mini's as they are so small. I have never had a standard done under ga. All mine have been done standing.Depending on vets it's usually about £250 for standing castration.
 
My mini has gone in today to be gelded, but his testicles haven't dropped, I was quoted £385 if all goes well and he doesn't need to stay in overnight/.
but if yours has testicles then he can be done at home all my others ones have.
 
Mine is a part bred (Welsh A sire, Shettie x miniature horse dam) but I had him gelded at 5 1/2months when he was still smaller than his Mum (who is 35 ins). He was done at home; we started with standing sedation but then the vet could only find one so he flattened him completely. The vet found the other one, I also had him and his sister microchipped on the same visit. Total bill was roughly £200.
