My 22yr old mare has just been diagnosed with Cushings. She has recently had 2 bouts of laminitis and one bout of colic - having never suffered from laminitis before. A blood test has revealed a mild case of cushings and she has to go on tablets. She shows no other signed - i.e. her coat is fine and she sheds as normal and the sockets about her eyes are normal too. I have yet to speak to my vet in depth about this but just wondered if anyone has any advice to give?

4 things you might find useful, off the top of my head:

the "metabolic horse" yahoo email group - lots of good info and plenty of email questions coming through regularly: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/TheMetabolicHorse/ The person who runs that group also sells various supplements.

The Prascend (pergolide) website, which has some good info and video on it:

The equine cushing's and insulin resistance email group:
http://www.ecirhorse.com/

which I think is run by Dr Kellon, who also runs various online horsey courses including one on Cushing's:

(click on course descriptions to find the one on Cushing's). I've not done the Cushing's one but I've done the general nutrition one and the neuromuscular one, and found them both very informative and well presented.

Good luck!

Just incase my 25 year old starts up with it;)
