Not for me, I hasten to add.
A lady on my yard has the cob her daughters learned to ride on, who is about 22/23 & an occasional happy hacker. Some point before I moved to this yard, she moved to Scotland with the cob, but then moved back again. While she was there, she "acquired" a Shetland companion (wild, barely looked after) who was so wild, they couldn't herd her into a trailer when they moved the cob & had to go all the way back for her (midlands to northern Scotland) a week later!
Little lady must be 40 if she's a day. She WON'T be lead on a headcollar - I know, I tried!
She's moved from field to field by following the cob, & will only allow her owner to groom her until she's had enough - she'll try to scale walls 3 times her height to get away..
So, in short, vets are no option for her.
But we suspect she may be suffering from cushings, as she's held onto her winter coat longer than she should. She did this last year, but not to the same extent. She's still fluffy now, even though we've had weather in excess of 30 degrees. Owner managed to groom her for a bit the other day & said it came out easily enough with her hands, but it's not coming out on it's own.
She wants to treat her to make her more comfortable, but really it's going to have to be supplements/medicine that can go in her feed, as she won't stand for anything else & it will just cause her more stress.
So, any good HHO advice on supplements?
Or suggestions of something other than cushings?
Thanks in advance
