I have a Cushings pony who is doing really well but STILL won't lose his hair... his facial hair is finally going but the body and legs seems to not be budging. He's on Prascend and wanted to see other peoples stories about their horses/ponies before and after treatment - whatever that treatment may be! :D

Has your horse not long started on prascend ? The first year my mare started on it I clipped all the thick coat off her but ever since then she has cast her coat normally. She has been on the tablets 3 years now.

Hi I also think it's a bit early to start worrying. I've clipped my TB who has cushings in past years because although he's on prascend his coat was still quite heavy. As he is now retired, i haven't clipped him but if he hangs onto his coat and it's started to get warm, I'll just clip him out so he's comfortable.

I wouldn't worry only one of mine is really shedding coat and my boy didn't shed his coat properly until june last year after a very hard winter before i got him. None of mine cushings though. I do believe it takes a bit of time for the treatment to bring levels down to normal. I don't have a lot of cushings experience mind.

Mine hasn't even started shedding yet - I had a chat with him about it today, although he has just started itching a bit so I suspect it is on its way. Glad winter is passing but back on lami watch now !

That's a relief! I figured the long hairs would fall out sooner but good to know otherwise. It's started to go on his face like mad I just hope it applies to the rest of his body as he's looking like a donkey at the moment... Will be amazing to see him looking normal again it's been so long :-(

I was worried that my mare who was diagnosed with cushings in November hadn't started shedding her coat. The vet said it was still early and due to our gloomy weather it may be a bit later this year than previous years. So don't worry just yet.
