My 24 year old been kn prascend now a month nearly five weeks , was good at first then went off food altogether and really dull , then peeked up eating everything , this week started sweating now even when been colder T late night checks , refusing all bucket feeds , vets been in touch , anybody else had this ? Xx worried 😢😢

It's not unusual, often called the veil.
I used to do a low trace clip on my retired cushings horse around this time of year, let it grow out ghrough winter and then re clipped coming into spring. They don't regulate their temperature well and can get hot.

In terms of not eating I ended up being unable to give tablets in any feeds, or they would just go to waste. I gave the pill mixed in apple baby food via an old wormer syringe.

I eventually found a feed mine would eat that had sufficient calories in, it was called GWF no starch fibregest.

As this is early in diagnosis you might want to chat to your vet about halving the dose for a period while he goes through the depression and anorexia

Mine reacts badly to the prascend. If they do they recommend stopping the prascend for a few days and then starting on a lower dose and gradually build up. When I have had to increase amount we now start with a half every other day for a week or two and build up very gradually to the dose required

i had the same but mine wouldnt eat hay as well so lost loads of weight. i contacted various feed companies and got samples of feed and tried her with lots of different ones., she would eat fast fibre and baileys light chaff(which smells very minty)and i managed to get some hay that she would eat so i heaved a sigh of relief and didnt have any more trouble. i wonder if the prascend makes their food taste different as my friends horse had no problem with the hay and he is normally fussy about hay......good luck

over what period of time did you introduce the prascend working up to 1 tablet? I have 3 on prascend with no problems but I spent a month getting each on the full dose.

my old girl went off her food, luckily would only eat hay, when her does was too high! vet recommended reducing it and within a week she had a new lease of life! she was however, on a very high dose! 4 a day! and this happened after a year of being on it!

You wouldn't know my 20 year old boy has ben diagnosed with bushings for the last 5 years except he struggles to regulate his temperature. He seems to be unable to regulate his temperature as soon as his thicker winter coat comes in, I'm in the position I can fully clip and stable/rug accordingly. This works well for him and I make sure his 'last' clip is quite late so he doesn't have to cast his coat.
I've heard of other cushing horses going off their feed but it isn't something I've had to deal with. The prascend works on a 'build up' system as opposed to a tablet every day being needed so might be worth giving him a small break.

Instead of putting the prascend in food can you try giving it in a treat. My little pony gets her half-tab daily in a piece of hollowed out carrot - we have a strict rule that she NEVER gets carrot at any other time so it remains a treat.
I clip my pony and rug her when necessary - their thermoregulation goes to pot and they often need help in this aspect.
