Complicated situation but I have been asked if I can have a Shetland with cushings to go with my current 2 ponies. I was hoping to use him as a lead rein pony literally as a bit of fun for my 3 year old son to be lead on once in a while. Other than that he'll just live out on my 2 acres (it's a good thing if they have a sparse amount of grass due to good dooer laminitic prone ponies.)
Anyway....am I taking on a lot of work and worry with cushings? I don't know anything about it except he has half a tablet a day to manage it!

No to the lot of work and worry, Prascend controls it very well, so long as you find a way to get him to eat it every day. But yes to expense, although half a tablet isn't too bad - they are around £1 per tablet.

If he does your job (good lead rein ponies are hard to find), then definitely consider him. Check on how frequently his ACTH levels have been checked, and what were they (should be<29 at this time of year, I believe).

The fact that he needs to fit with your existing ponies management is a plus, it would be different if he was needed as a companion to a skinny Tb :).
