my horse has just been diagnosed with acute onset of lami in both fron feet , both pedal bones rotated slightly and positive for cushings , never had any issues with any of these before and been perfectly healthy hes now 24 years old and within the space of 24 hours was rushed as a emergency to the vets , any experiences greatly appreciated and what does it all cost you for you pracend per month ?

My boy had a couple bouts of laminitis before we got him tested for cushings about 4 years ago when he was 16 (now 20). One bout he had a slight rotation in his pedal bone and corrective shoeing fixed this. Management is key for a horse prone to laminitis, control grazing, low sugar feeds, soaked hay, monitor weight, and I always keep my boy fairly lean.
As for prascend cheapest way is to get a prescription from your vet and then buy online. I buy mine from animeddirect at 90p a tablet they are the cheapest I've found. I get my boy tested every 6 months at the moment as he was gone from 1 prascend a day to 1 and a half a day. It is a big financial commitment but one not worth ignoring!
 
Mine was much the same - came out of the blue at the age of 18. Some sinkage but very little rotation - and even rotation and sole penetration is recoverable these days. Please don't put your faith in The Laminitis Trust, they don't have anywhere near the track record TLS has, veterinary science has moved on since their protocols were set up. Mine had heartbar shoes with leather pads as a first aid measure, from a farrier who was accustomed to working with my very good vet, but he was reluctant to make the transition to barefoot which to me was vital for his rehabilitation. So I found a good, experienced trimmer - but that is for in the months to come. Good luck, there isn't a quick fix but it is do-able. Mine is 16.1hh wb x tb and has 1 Prascend/day - I buy on line with a prescription from my vet, and it is around £1 a day. Other than that, he is on low sugar/grass keep on a track which keeps him sylph like - he was too prone to putting weight on before I noticed! Ribs are there to be seen!!
 
We had sudden onset laminitis at 19, turned out to have Cushings. No other warning signs. (We already had had one Cushings pony on Prascend and knew what to look for).
One tablet was working out at about £1 a day, but it depends what dosage yours will require. That will depend on the levels shown in the blood test.

Mine was prone to laminitis in her hinds only. She tested positive around 4 years ago now. Apart from being a nightmare to get her to eat a biker feed she's gained a new lease of life, running around like a youngster when the mood takes her.

I get her tested every year. I knew when she needed an increase as she went mildly footy again (I watch her like a hawk and she has to go over a stony bit to get to yard). A blood test confirmed so I just go by that really.

Prascend is around £1 that's £30 a month for most which is only the price of a good supplement and it worth every penny imo. Mine is on 1 1/2.

Worth remembering that it's the Cushings that's causing the laminitis so once you get levels down, the laminitis should improve quickly.
