Following on from the earlier post on wood fibre surfaces.....any experiences of Cushionride specifically? The replies on here and those on other forums seem split with roughly two thirds of people saying it's wonderful and one third saying it's slippery and doesn't last. What's the truth? Is it to do with drainage? Do people get confused with other kinds of wood-based surface and Cushionride? Or is it just rubbish for anything more than poddling about in walk?
Would love to find out that it's great and I don't need to win the lottery before I can afford a surface for my half-built arena.... would also hate to put down something useless.
Thanks!

Ooo thanks for postin about cushionride, iv been on a mass researchin mission today & hav seen similar sort of opinions on the surface so it will be interestin to see what people come back with!
I'm hopin to go view a cushionride surface next wk, which is apparently riding very well, including jumpin & has been down for a few years, so hopefully that wil help me make my final decision!

We have it down in our lunging pen and also in our horsewalker and it's brilliant. We've also got an exercise track around our boundary which can be ridden on at any time of the year.

It's never been slippery even though it's on top of concrete in the horsewalker.

They have this at the yard I'm at and I quite like it. I wasn't thrilled when it first went down as it was abit slippery but it seems a lot better now (has been down a few months). Rode my horse in it this morning when it was wet from the rain and it wasn't slippery at all, or boggy so must drain well.

horrid and slippery.

i was at a yard that had it and wouldn't jump in the school as you always slipped on take off and when turning.

also couldn't lunge on it as both of my horses fell onto their sides as they slipped.

my dad builds maneges for people and a lot of people are choosing to have it but i have experienced it in 3 or 4 different schools and it really isn't a patch on sand and rubber.

I had cushionride for about 4 yrs- it was professionally installed with a good base/drainage. For about the first six months it was loose on top, once bedded in it rode OK for only about 12 mths then after it was a nightmare and very very slippery I wouldn't even canter on it let alone jump! Have since had it taken off and replaced with silica sand and rubber chip which is absolutely fantastic.

It is fantastic, and it does last well. One of our best riders in the West Country has it, I have been there a number of times, and it has kept and rides beautifully after years.
