Well horse is like a time bomb now the grass is starting to come through..just waiting for her to blow up like a balloon. She was on quite an excessive amount of haylage so I've cut this back (cause she has access to it in the field too). Now the past two nights that I've been up at about 8ish she's been taking the odd mouthful and I'm quite worried. As tonight was snowy, she was good and some numpty had put her in her lightweight stable rug (she's fully clipped and it's -2

) I gave her a wee bit more to keep her happy (this was about 10ish)
Have no idea what to do...should I just give up and give this constant amount (maybe soak it?) or do something about her bedding?
Suggestions welcomed

Well her bed isn't as fattening as haylage so unless she's pigging loads or is prone to impaction colic I wouldn't worry. If it really concerns you put her on something she won't eat!

It was the colic thing i was most worried about...didn't know she needed to pig out loads

If only I had the money to buy shavings..I'm allergic to straw

She's just on straw and TBH it isn't that nice

dusty and a bit grey looking!
I thought about soaking haylage so I could feed a bit more..She was getting hay at the start of winter but we've ran out now

Feed the haylage from a small holed net so it takes longer??? even split it into two nets hung different sides of the stable - takes even longer!!

echo the jeys fluid tip - just a couple of glugs in the bottom of a watering can and add water should do it
