cash (my horse) was throwing his head about today, so i got off and noticed his mouth way cut, and i have a show on sunday, my friend said put vasiline on it, whitch i have
but what do you's reccomend for the fastest clearence of the cut,?
because otherwise i guess im only going too be doing the inhand (i reallyy!! hope its cleared up but sunday)
so what have you's guys done whn your horse has got a cut lip
thanks x

it a fair size, and it in the corner of his mouth wear the bit goes, i have too get a smaller bit as this one is too big the one he came with,

Depends how big it is really. Keep it as clean as you can and apply Sudocreme regularly and obviously keep a bit out of his mouth for as long as you can

If you dont ride at all until then it might have a chance, but if you ride and it gets wet its unlikely to heal very quickly.

Hi

My horse cut her mouth years ago, the day before our horse dentist visited, he recommended allum (i think thats how its spelt) from the chemist. its used on bedsores i think - i just soaked a piece of cotton wool in it diluted and then held it on the cut for a minute or so. definitely seemed to help

Vaseline is a bad idea it will keep it too soft and it will cut again.
Alium solution is very good, wash with weak saline .

If you put a bit in his mouth Sunday put a few drops of lavender oil on the cut side it is naturally aneathetic as well as antiseptic.

Ediited as I have just read where you say it is a fair size. If it heals by sunday it will only have closed over and the minute you use a bit could split again and you will probably find he leans on it.

I have replied to your PM about Lavender oil but I would suggest that if the cut is big enough to have scabbed over Sunday would be too soon otherwise if nothing else your horse will associate competing with pain and its always wise to live to fight another day.
