Cut on shoulder - how to stop rugs rubbing??

Any advice on how to stop rugs rubbing on a largish cut/scrape (not deep) on point of shoulder?
It's right where the rug rubs. I am thinking of sewing a gamgee into the inside of the rug but does anyone have any better ideas? Thank you!

I would get one of those lycra vests and sew some padding into that rather than into the rug

Yes that's a good idea. Also thinking of adhesive dressings - but maybe that's a bad idea. May have to give a number of things a try. I think I'll nip down to the saddlery now in my lunch break and see what they have in there.

My mares shoulders got completly rubbed this winter so went and bought one of those roma quilted bibs. Couldnt even tell now, her fur has grown back so quick.

Bossy bibs are really good for rug rub generally as they are silky
