Does anyone have any further suggestion on how to deal with this.

I brought my Tb in from the field 5pm last night and notice fairly dried blood down his face on the right hand side from his ear to his eye. I parted him forelock and in front of his bridle path is a sliced cut about the size of your thumb nail:eek: I washed it in warm salt water and it started to bleed again, not to the point it was running down his face but blood had rose to the surface so I continued to clean this up and put some wound powder on. However it was oozing pinky fluid so this only made it look worse so I cleaned it again and noticed some swelling down below his ear to his eye ( hole above his eye wasnt obvious and was spongy) so I ice packed this. He wasnt bothered about having his head collar on and let me touch it but its all obviously hender in that area. Hes happy to eat and ate both tea, hay and breakfast.

I have done the same this morning and the swelling has gone down slightly and the wound looks better in day light. Ive kept it clean but again the more I mess the more it starts to ooze pinky fluid untill blood comes again:confused:.

I have phone the vet and expained this who advised me to keep an eye on the swelling and has given me some bute for 4 days. Ive kept him in but he gets stressed, box walks and periodically shouts which carn't do his head any good but never the less he'll be staying in all weekend. His eye is also fine he can still see, isnt bothered about me touching it and it isn't closed/closing.

Does anyone know what else I can do or what my next move should be. Obviously keep it clean etc... Nothing in the field to say whats caused it either :(

Thanks :)

Just carry on with what you are doing, it doesn't sound like it is bothering him at all and it is a good sign that the swelling is going down. Keep it clean and just keep a close eye on it :)
