FGS leave him and his mother alone! What's with all the carrying?

He's a bit shaky for a day old, hopefully he's been checked over. Be interesting to see how he develops.

Feel really sorry for the dam actually :(

Disturbing!

What I don't get is how can they be aiming for a smallest horse in the world record, when it is not fully grown yet? Smallest foal in the world maybe??

I know foals can be out of proportion but his head looks really big for his body. Poor mare seemed to be getting quite stressed, why didn't they just put the foal down and let her loose too.

Couldnt watch it all just look at the begining where that woman is holding him the mare is really unsettled!! Sorry small and cute it may be but horses are still horses and nature is still nature and a human picking up a horse is not natural. My little boy only has to go to the other end of the field and Samba has to run to get him bet if she wasnt tied up she would have bitten that woman or something. Grrrr!!!!!

Same as said above, he's cute but I wanted that woman to leave him and Mum alone, he's not a puppy!!! Also the headcoller on Mum was caught between her front legs after she'd tried to follow the foal when he was having a run?!?!

Oh gawd, before you know it rich women will be carrying around a small pony in their handbags as the next fashionable thing to have.

Not sure if cute or disturbing. What annoyed me was doppy American newsreader saying that the owners were going to geld him but have now decided to wait - WHAT - he's a couple of days old.

Note to ponio - don't go anywhere near elastic bands!!!

if you google dwarfism in miniatures...it's quite scary. Minis are susceptible to birth defects such as this......not cute at all.....

Just tried to comment on the video but I have to wait for approval for posting! I bet mine doesnt appear then lol basically said what I just posted on here.

I did this when it first came out. It's not there now, is it ;) (same name on yourtube as here)

It's disturbing that they won't let his poor dam be a mother to him, and that they put 'his new human mum'

He has a mum! If you would let her off to leadrein long enough for her to be one!

Makes me mad

Plus, he looks a bit freaky with his bug eyes.

think they shodlu jsut leave them alone,,,, poor mare just wants her foal :/

n yes its disturbing and not normal imho.

It's disturbing that peaple seem to think they have to carry small dogs, let alone small foals. :(

I'm pretty sure this story is a few months old - would be interested to see recent pics of the foal. He must be 6 months old or so now I think.

His head looks quite disproportionate and his right hind in particular seems very deformed - is that something he will grow out of?

He looks cute in an ugly sort of way!

Yes its very small for a foal, but when its "fully grown" it wont be. That record will still be held by Thumbelina, who by the way is a DWARF. Nothing natural about that. It does seem to have some dwarf characteristics BUT these might just be due to its small stature. It would be interesting to see it in 12 months time to see how it has unfolded.

To me its not a nice looking foal, not something i would pick. And i agree, its a horse.. not a dog... put it down!

Please dont see this as how all miniature breeders try to breed.

I'm afraid I have an issue with breeding mutations into anything, so yes, I find this hugely disturbing. Not a fan of miniature horses for this reason - it's all about 'size' and 'cute'.

Have to agree, looked and thought 'wow it's tiny' but then makes me think of the whole breeding issue. Just like the issue with the dog breeding that came up a while back about breeding for the sole purpose of size and ignoring potentially serious defects.
