My youngster has started to get cuts on his elbows and the only thing i can think is that it is from when he lays down (he tucks right up) they are only a little bit swollen and not affecting him but im worried if it carries on he could get sore ??

anyone got any ideas of what i can do to stop this??

Rubber matting and a deep bed. My 17'2 gets elbow rubs if he is not on rubber matting as no matter how deep the bed when when he gets up or down he goes through the bed.

Already have rubber matting and a deep bed !!

I think its when he lays down he tucks his front legs right up into his chest ??

At this rate he will have to wear fluffy boots to bed !!

you can get a big sausage boot that goes around their fetlock so when they lay down it leaves a gap and stops them capping their elbows, if he carrys on doing it he will get capped elbow and start forming more bone like a splint but thats i severe cases when they lay on conctrete with little bed. il try and get a link to one.

What bedding is he actually on? If it is shavings or straw they will simply move aside as he gets up and down. I found the the wood pellets worked best for me - and the longer they had been down the better.

i think you can get very big ones aswell which may suit your bigger lad better. see what your local tack shop can order you.
