cutting annular ligament to promote tendon healing

My old horse had her annular ligament cut because it had tightened and was damaging her tendons. She was 19 when she has the surgery and it cost just over £1500.00 with all the op and aftercare. She came back 100% sound and only retired last year from being ridden at the age of 23 due to a bad back and is still 100% sound now! My vet did it via key hole surgery which left no scar and she was back being ridden within 4 weeks and back competing within 6 months

My mare had her annular ligament cut just over two months ago. She was not lame but had very bad wingalls and just didn't feel comfortable. I am now working her in trot and she is sound. There is still some swelling on her leg which feels lukewarm if you press it. I am interested to hear what you said about working your horse hard. I have also heard that the best thing to do is get the horses working asap to stop build up of adhesions. How long was it before you were competing again? I appreicate every horse is different but I am working on the basis of 6 months and wondered how long it was for you. Thanks
