Well, I know we've had a great few weeks of the grass growing after the drought, but latest I've ever seen a field being cut for haylage!

Bonfire night surprise! Anyone else cutting? ?

They've turned and dragged it into rows twice during the day ... I thought with silage they took it straight from the field?

I hope they are making that for themselves and not going to flog it at a market to some unsuspecting person buying for horses. I don't see how they can get it dry enough at this time of year.

It will have to be rowed up to pick it up, do you have any dairy farms near you, they may be cutting to feed fresh grass. We have one that cuts daily for cattle that never go out.

It depends on the moisture level. Will be quite high at the moment I suspect, so they will try to wilt it to decrease the water content to get better fermentation...but will definitely be silage not haylage.

Oh, loads! We're in East Devon where I think there are more cows than people ?
