Cutting rubber mats

I’m making a mounting block and have some odd bits of rubber mats id like to put on the steps. What’s the best way to cut them?
Stanley? (Carefully of course!)

That’s what I used. Mine are the thick equimats so it took 2 cuts as the blade not deep enough. Used a ping long first cut and then bent the mat to open the cut and get through the last bit.
