I'm tempted to try the lady-jockstrap too but it looks a bit....solid....I think BB's pants are more subtle - critical for those mid-ride pub stops....

Hey team, just by way of an update - I bought the Didoo cycle pants (which I will refer to for one time only as "Barton Bounty's pants") for a bargain £11 from eBay (new! they were new!) and wore them on a 15 mile ride the other week. They definitely work - I won't claim it was like floating on a cloud but I was considerably less uncomfortable and will definitely stick with them.

The key drawback was having to wear them around the yard while doing jobs before and after riding....I felt like I was waddling around in the world's biggest sanitary towel. Objectively though, the main giveaway that I was wearing them was the tight elastic around the thighs (slightly visible under my riding tights), and they really did help while riding so I'll put up with it.
Yayy! Thats good! Also depends on the shape of your bike saddle , I found that the smaller the saddle the more comfy it was x

Yes, they're not exactly designed for riding a horse but for £11 I was extremely pleased :)

Interesting what you say about bike saddles, that seems counter intuitive to me but for a person who has a pelvis (haha) I know horribly little about how they're actually constructed!

Well i learned the hard way, I have joint hyper mobility and osteoarthritis, but I have always had a tilted pelvis. Had to have c sections because I couldnt deliver normally so me in my wisdom thought ‘ i will buy s nice big comfy seat for my bike!’ It’s actually the other way round.
my carerra has a memory foam standard seat and the dawes road bike has just a thinner seat, they seem to be as comfy as each other . I like both ?

I've always been prone to suffering from rubbing/ friction burns on my lady parts ( as opposed to seat bones ) when riding both horses and bikes , and as someone who worked with horses as a career I could be riding up to 6 hours a day and with no say over what saddle the horse would be wearling - some were absolutely excruciating ! Over the years I tried all sorts of padded pants combos but nothing really helped satisfactorily . I think most products are geared towards cushioning your seat rather than preventing friction , and I quickly realised that the bulkier thickly padded cycle type shorts actually made things even worse . Plus it's not something you really discuss with other riders is it , so I just suffered in silence ( and stood in my stirrups a lot ! ) . But then I got a job at an eventing yard and , staying away at a competition one time , me and the rider were bunking together in the horse box . She was getting changed to ride and was wearing great big thick tight spanx pants despite the fact that she was really slim . She caught me looking and to cover my suprise I joked " They look comfy ! "
And then she told me that she too suffered terrible problems with sore lady bits until , on the recommendation of her coach , she had started wearing spanx , the trick being she said , to make sure they were really big , really thick and really tight ( lady jock strap ? ) , and sometimes she even wore two pairs if she was riding for a long time .
Well I tried it - and it was an absolute bl**dy game changer for me . No more rubbing , you pull those big mothers on , tuck everything in and hoik them up tight !
And when I'm cycling I follow the same principle and wear a tight fitting onesie with a slim pad which does pretty much the same thing , rather than bulky padded shorts which just make things worse .The tighter the better to keep everything tucked in , as it were !
