Has anyone had this? what was your recovery time (ie time to be up moving around, time to be back on a horse, time to be back mucking out etc)

googling seems to say 8-12 weeks light duties but we all know horsey girls generally half what normal people do.......!!!!

hospital appt monday will probably give me more info as to severity and surgery options, ie in through abdominal wall or up the foof which will affect recovery but in general.......can i expect to be back on a safe and small pony in 6 weeks?!

mentally prepping myself for worst case scenario.....

I think it will depend on how vigorous the exercise you do will be, if you rush too quickly you could prolapse again. Especially if you suffer from a connective tissue disorder too like EDS.

as far as we know, just unlucky.

its obviously mild atm so ive ive also been told they may want to try and strengthen the muscles with a pelvic floor exerciser thing first to see if it helps. Just struggling to find rehab specific to horse riders and NHS just always say 12 weeks.

Be very cautious!
Repairs can become undone by too much pressure too soon

thanks. OH will be doing all rugs/beds/hays/waters etc its more the actual riding that doc couldnt really say.....i would think riding is less pressure if i go quiet than eg mucking out but doc had no idea really.

The worry about riding is that things can happen unexpectedly, eg a trip which jolts you
Someone I knew undid her repair by taking a swipe at her child!

horrible situation to be in. Bit short of time now but wasn't there a thread about rectocele (sp) not so long ago when there was a physio offering help who specialised in this area? YCBM I seem to remember you posted?

I found a physio that was also a horse rider which really helped!

Hopefully you can have it sorted soon!

Google pelvic floor physiotherapists as there are a fair few of them about. A consultation may very well help you.
