Sorry this isn't in Stable Yard, but I wanted a big audience.

I bought a sack of these last week and Ted (who eats anything, even antiBs without turning up his nose) left all of his feed and said no thank you. So I gave them to a friend and...her horse left them too. I have tried to feed them out of hand to ALL of the horses on the yard and not one will touch them

Has anyone else found them to be completely yuckky to horses?

I gave up buying D&H for this reason some time ago. I tried about 3 of their mixes from stud to competition mix, for different horses of course, and all my previously not picky horses wouldn't touch them.

Try Spiller's conditioning mix/cubes

Mine will eat them, but I don't rate them as a build up cube. Funnily enough I have used their build up mix as well, and mine wont eat the nuts in the mix.

For putting on condition I find Allen and Page Calm and Condition the best, with a can of Guiness every night (seriously)

I am trying to decide whether it is worth sending a sample in to them to see if there is something odd in it, but sounds as though it is not worth it. I grabbed them from countrywide as they didn't have my usual Saracen, which I order elsewhere...I certainly won't bother again! It is a shame as I really rate D+H Ultimate Balancer.

We used to give them to the horses at the RS, then we switched to the build-up mix instead and they like that a lot more - especially with a bit of sugarbeet mixed in. Then again, most of them will eat anything!

Try Badminton Conditioning Nuggets. My old horse loves them to the point that if they are buried in his feed he will walk off in disgust until i show him that they are still there!

I'm not sure how effective they were but both mine ate them fine last year - and old girl is a bit of a prima donna and can be very fussy about what she eats.

I've got a bit of a fussy eater but he ate the build-up cubes quite readily last year. I'm not sure I really rate them as a conditioning feed though.
