I'm looking to move Fabio onto one of these for the winter - he has mild shivers so i follow the high oil, low sugar, low starch approach for him.
I came across the ERS pellets the other day in the feed store and they sound ideal - with the exception they are designed for horses in medium to hard work. He isn't! He gets ridden 5-6 times a week but certainly can't class him in hard work. Have looked online and seen the Allen and Page Sugar and Ceral Intolerance diet, which seems similar but designed for less workload. Anyone had experiences with either of these? Could i feed the ERS pellets at lower quantities than recommended?
Also, thinking on putting my OH's horse on the same, figure that the same diet couldn't hurt him. Although he's not so good a doer as Fabio but could bulk his out with some beet and chaff?
