As title really.

I have been recommended this for my new boy. Hes a 15.1 tb x. Hes been out of work for a couple of years and has no muscle, zero topline or bum!
Hes currently been fed on mollichop, speedibeet and baileys no4. I spoke to the baileys rep who said that bascially hes not been being fed on anywhere near enough no4, for his size and that i should feed at least 2.5kg a day now when hes only in very light work, more as he starts doing more. Now to me that seems like an awful lot of no4. She also said to get rid of chaff/ beet and feed no4 as a complete feed. Im slightly suspicious of this advice, and generally dont like to feed a sole feed in concentrate (just habit probably) but it also works out as a bag of cubes every 8 days!

So ive also been recommended d&h ultimate balancer, only 500gms a day with alfa a, oil and speedibeet. I am leaning towards giving this a go, but dont know anyone who has used ultimate balancer before...and been getting somewhat conflicting opinions on it. Yes its more expensive per bag, but since you only feed 500gms a day works out more cost efficient in the long run.

So does anyone feed Ultimate balancer? How do you find it? any experiences / advice welcome please!

I use it on my horse. I started using it last summer as he was out 24-7 and he's only 4 so I wanted to make sure he was getting enough vitamins. Feed is also included in my livery package but it's really cheap stuff so I've continued to feed the balancer so I know he's getting the right balance of minerals and vitamins.

D&H ultimate balancer is low calorie though, same as baileys lo-cal or topspec balancer which means they won't help weight gain if your horse needs to put some weight on. Don't forget that they need something to turn into muscle so I would suggest using baileys Outshine as it's got a higher calorie content. I swapped to this one over the winter when he dropped off a bit during the snowy period and swapped back to ultimate balancer once his weight was back to normal. :D

I used it with my horse and was very pleased with it. I fed the Balancer mixed in with Hi Fit Lite and that was all in the summer. Added some sugar beet pulp in the winter. Gave his coat a nice shine, good feet and it seemed to give him a lift. It is supposed to help with digestion so you get the most out of the feed. I would give it a try with as little added as possible to start with, then only add other feeds if you think he needs them. I can remember starting off one horse on the first feed balancer (Equi something, from which all the others copied) and I could virtually see her putting on weight every day, but it was in the right places.

I don't feed it at the moment as he isn't doing much work, and needs to loose weight, also I find Top Spec products are easier to get (had to order the D & H).

i feed it to my rising 4 year old as he is a very good doer and wanted to make sure he was getting all the nutrients he needs. its doesnt make him hyper or anything which is good.
Only beware because it is 25% protein which is really high. just keep an eye on him and watch his water intake and amount he wees cos if hes getting too much protein, this will increase.
also, i have yet to do this, but apparently it used to be an oat balancer so the phosphorous: calcium ratio might be quite bad for health. It doesnt say what it is on website or bag so may email and ask.
