Does anyone use one? Could you remind me what the effect of it is, I am thinking of trying one on my boy who at the moment will either try to ignore the bit and hollow or lean on it (I am trying to teach him to work more up and together and actually engage his backend as he likes to just drag himself along on his forehand!) Or any other bitting ideas would be great.

I use one, we got it for my youngster as an alternative to a full cheek to help with steering him, and I use it on Dylan because I find that's what he goes best in. What kind of mouthpiece are you thinking of? I use a single-jointed.

D Rings have a very slight poll action which can make a leaner lean more. They are good for turning as an alternative to full cheeks or fulmer snaffles.

There are not any magic bits out there, but for my horse who leans and hollows, I found a gag particularly helpful.

A less severe option would be a loop ring snaffle or a wilkie snaffle. Also choose one with a french link or lozenge as this will help with excessive tongue pressure and prevent the bit jamming into the roof of the mouth.
