daft question about manes

Everyone on my yard has the horses mane lying on the right hand side. But I'm starting to wonder if our yard has got it wrong. The last 2 horses that were bought, came to our yard with manes on left and when I went to another yard recently, their manes were on the left. So now I'm confused

Manes are on the off side, so the right side as your sat on them and the left as you look at them

My horse's mane naturally falls to the left. I don't see why it matters. I plait it up on the left as I think it would be uncomfortable to try to plait it on the other side to how it naturally falls.

Over here it seems to depend on if it is a mare or a gelding. Geldings to the left mares to the right as you look at them. FB can't decide what he is as his goes left and right (but mainly right)

I'm lucky as my mare's mane is happy either but I put over to off side - gelding has very little mane to worry about and is getting what little he has chopped off shortly
