My little boy has started to kick and look unhappy with the flies this evening, so thinking of putting his fly rug on, also thinking of just putting him in his stable with it on, is this safe?

Ours have their fly rugs on now as they're being driven mad already.
All but one of ours keep their fly rugs on overnight, as it's quite midgey in the evenings and the one with sweetitch scratches himself all night if it's not on - perfectly safe, the same as having any other rug on really. The only one that doesn't usually has a fleece on instead as she really feels the cold but she'll be going naked tonight as it's so hot!

My TB is out 24/7 and I have left his cotton full neck fly sheet on tonight as he was looking miserable at 7pm. He is dark bay and I would like to leave it on in the daytime but he gets even hotter with it on than off (it is supposed to help keep him cool), I think the midges are worse in the evening and early morning though and I did the same thing last year, seemed to work for us.

Thank you for your reply :) mine is stabled at night, but have taken the plunge, out it on, and lathered him in fly repelent, I will worry about him keeping it on ( that is what I do :) )

Hopefully that will keep the little critters away :D

Not sure where you are but they said on the weather forecast that in our area it will drop down to 2 or 3 degrees tonight?:(
