It has been so long since I have used it and have thrown away the instructions:

How do I use my Solo Comb.

is it a case of take a a piece of mane and then back comb and chop ?????

Advice please

xx

Arhhhhhhhhhhhhh the dreded solo comb.

Yeah it is but no way u can pull??? Only thing to remeber is to try and get as close as possible to the roots.

It is a case of:
Pick it up.
Look at it in disgust.
Walk to the bin.
Chuck it in.
Walk away in shame that you ever brought one in the first place.

at you!

From the results I have seen when these have been used on manes you might as well take a pair of scissors to him and be done with it!

Ah im surprised to hear so many bad comments about them? My best mate got one to use on her horse who would otherwise have to be sedated to have his mane pulled - and it looks brilliant, you couldn't tell it was done using a solocomb, looked lovely!

She used it the same way as pulling but without the pulling - backcomb at the length you want and then at the point you would usually wrap and pull, just chop but try and pull downwards as you do it a bit.

Ditto Kayleigh and Rocky - I solo comb my silly mare, its not quite as good as pulling but it means she doesnt have to be sedated. You have to go about it exactly as though you were pulling. Tiny bit at a time, when you have the hair left that you would have pulled, push the comb as close to the roots as poss and cut.

Im not the biggest fan either!!! However i have to use one as my mare goes nuts if you try to pull. I use the solo comb to get rid of the length. Then i flip the mane on to the wrong side and use a tail rake, as this seems to thin it out. The mane still doesn't look pulled, but it looks a hell of a lot better than using a solo comb alone!!

A light bit of tail raking (but on mane!) combined with thinning scissors and some good old fashioned pulling seems to work for me...or should I say my horse!!
Seems to create quite a natural finish with minimal pulling.
