Mine are:

"Would make nice racehorse" (errr she's a trakhaner thanks love)

"Trotting on the spoit is NOT required at this level. Thank you."

"Left arena" followed at the end with "nice jump, shame about the flatwork"

several hundred "Well Sat's"

All over the course of 4 years, so I guess that's not tooooooo bad...

What are yours?!

Haha yours are priceless, I'm on the dressage committee for my riding club so I write for the judge a lot, I'm well aware of their 'sense of humour'! Passes the time for us writers, lol!

On my old pony I would get (guaranteed) 'well ridden on a clearly difficult pony'. It was not well ridden believe me! They just wanted to find something nice to say

Nice young horse with lots of potential, should settled down with time - bless, Breeze was 26 at the time!

For my very hairy gypsy mare, lovely forward going mare - what a fantastic tail.

We got a coment of

"circle a bit mean" and this for a 11yr old rider

"nice tail plait"
"nice plaits"
Last two comments on a pony who lacks impulsion and always got that comment on every test. He didn't enjoy dressage

I used to get a lot of 'very square circles' the odd 'well sat' and once I got a 'incorrect lead, corrected, changed, correct, broke, correct.' all in the space of a 20m circle. Needless to say I got a 3 for that movement! amazing really since he was 17.2 and could do a 20m in very few strides.

Hehe yeah i dread to think what they REALLY wanted to write about us!!

[/ QUOTE ] That is one of the fun bits of writing for a dressage judge - you get to hear their real uncensored opinion of the horse/rider combinations in front of them! Can be quite enlightening and amusing if you get an outspoken judge!

i got 'resisted transition' when i asked for canter we stopped left the arena backwards reared flybucked and re entered arena in hunting gallop.a understated comment if ever there was one !

Diagonal- which on watching the vid back was right everytime????????

Also rode two tests and free walk was not good that day, in second test i got "free walk proving elusive today"

during sitting trot - "rider rose" um no, the horse was really bouncy and I couldn't sit!

on my own mare my riding instructor kept putting "horse evading rider's hands" at every transition (up or down) despite the fact that she went quieter than she did when I was just riding her (she was a headshaker) one afternoon my instructor got on to show me 'how it's done' (i.e. get the mare on the bit), she couldn't get her to do anything ROFLMAO Next time I did a dressage test I was given kinder remarks about "patiently ridden"

my last time out we got 'horse shows potential and well ridden' - George had bucked going into canter and I had then failed to get more than a few strides of canter out of him! We came 2nd from last, think the judge was just being kind!

I used to ride a bonkers pony when I was a girl that every time you so much as thought about moving would speed up, buck, nap, shy! I tended to get a lot of 'quietly ridden' and 'sympathetic riding, well done' i swear people used to take bets when we entered the ring on how long we would last!
But that pony went on to become a pony club dream and now hunts with the Middleton with a 4 yr old child as company!

" I have much admiration for you" after I'd been bucked off in the first test (she jumped the boards whilst bucking! and broke a brand new bridle) In the second test she bucked down the center line and all the way through the canter work and most of the trot.

"Sensitively ridden" when said beast was in a foul mood! But I managed to keep all four feet where they were suppose to be.

"If the gag ever becomes dressage legal, you and your horse will excel at this discipline." That comment was made after the second of Oshk's 2 dressage outings.

When my horse tanked off to 'C' with me when we were doing a 20m circle at A the comment was "rather onward bound at times" which I thought was funny and in another test we left the grass arena like a crab sidewards rather fast but after about 100m I managed to get back in the arena and carry on and the comment read "rather large circle" ha ha!

I love the comments...

"saintly horse, despite rider's best efforts"

*sobs quietly, despite extensive counselling*

[/ QUOTE ]

That is just mean and uncalled for!

I once got 7s or 8s for every movement and collectives appart from rider's position which I got a 5 for and the comment was "Lovely horse, but rider MUST learn how to ride"

I had a comment similar to Booboos once. Was competing and constantly winning at Novice and so, was considering Elementary. Sneaked in one last Novice test only to find out that the judge was someone who dislikes me immensley, don't know why as had barely even met her a handful of times. She gave me 4's for almost every movement and I came a disgraceful last place (by a VERY long way!). Comment was: 'Nice horse, could do rather well with someone who could actually ride.' Cheers love! I ripped up the sheet and threw it straight in the bin!

"You should have trained your horse better"

Fair enough except 99% of the people competing (including me) were sat on Riding School horses we'd never ridden before and we were only given a 15 minute warm up!! Case of silk purses and sows ears!

what a super partnership! she now needs to learn to take a little more weight onto her hindquarters, *but what potential!*

Shadow was 27 at the time, and we blew the competition away with 78%!! it was prelim one though to be fair...

these are great, jack and i would either be cool calm and collected or looney tune on speed.
i loved the " V.Late into walk" "reluctant to halt" we didn't come down from frantic bounce the whole test! and jumped in and out several times, she was so kind and wrote " lovely horse just not being cooperative today, keep trying"
