Daftest thing your neddys do....

My boy positions his big bum right in front of me so that he can have a scratch, then he sways like an elephant. He loves to look at views and has his favourite ones that he must stop at. My fault I'm afraid as I always let him. He actually looks as if he's scanning the view to take it all in. He's so good in all other ways that I let him get away with that one. He used to be in a dutch barn with a ram and two ewes and would pick the ram off the ground by his fleece. Strangely, the ram didn't mind and would let him do it over and over again. He tried it with a very old welsh section A mare but we had to stop that because he was picking her hind legs off the ground by her rug!!!

Mine has to lick my hand to death after he's had 2 of a certain brand of treat...and it's only that brand, and only 2, and he gets very funny with me if I don't let him have my hand to lick after them. It's not even that the treats have been in my hand for a while so it smells or tastes of the treat as they've usually just come out my pocket - it's just like it's a ritual he does. Also he grabs very long nettle stems as we head out of the field when I'm getting him in, we end up dragging them along dangling from his mouth like a cheroot..he picks a really tall dying nettle that he seems to know will come out of ground by the roots and then starts at the top and it disappears like a piece of spaghetti being sucked into his mouth very quickly, crunches his way right down the stem then he nips off the root and spits it out!

When I take his bridle off, the Spooky Pony will often hold on to the snaffle at the joint, with his front teeth, and stand there sort of nibbling it for a good while. Then eventually he'll drop it.

My boy likes to eat thistles when they are in season. He is so funny to watch he will draw his lips back and catch hold of it with his teeth and give it a big pull so it comes out of the ground and then proceeds to eat it all the way down to the root which he then spits out. Very funny to watch cos he manages to eat it with out ever getting spiked.

My horse yawns everytime you touch or play with his masseter muscle on the right side - you just stroke it in one place and he yawns - brilliant!!

I'm also teaching him to play football!

Mine's a bit like this but she doesn't nibble, just stands with it in her mouth for a bit, it really confuses OH who is used to them spitting it out

When I am pottering about in the other field or doing something in the near vicinity two of them jump out to see what I am doing. They are always mightily pleased with themselves.

Not massively odd, but my mare likes to put her bit in her mouth herself. You basically hold up the bridle and she opens her mouth really wide and lowers her head until the bit is in her mouth. She looks very affronted if you try to put it in yourself. She always takes the bit so its not a problem

When the vet was out and I had to run her up for him I decided to put on her bridle. Without thinking just stood there holding it out for her, she moved over and lowered her head and picked up the bit. The vet was OMG now I have seen everything

Left her unattended with a packet of jam doughnuts last night. I really didn't think it was possible for her to get into the packet.

SHE DID.

My lad does exactly the same! He only has 2 as well and sucks my fingers afterwards..............no he's not a baby he's 12!

Love this thread, so cute. Mine takes his head collar off the hook and throws his head up and down when he wants out. Does the same at tea time with his feed bucket.

Ooo, and mine think she lives on the yard next door and always starts walking that way (we share a driveway). She has never lived on that yard and is terrified of it cos they have pigs and a donkey, no idea why she gravitates that way!

She knows when it's time to go out and she hurls her headcollar off the hook on the wall outside her stable and nips at my clothes if I take too long to put it on and take her out!

My mare got the screw lid off the camrosa and ate the sodding lot, £26 worth, glad it is all natural products.

My gelding puts his head over your shoulder and pulls you towards him so you can scratch his whiters then he returns the favour and rubs his top lip over the base of your back. bless him.

If I drop anything my mini will pick it up and give it back to me!

It can be a bit annoying as I can't actually put anything on the floor without him carrying it around, next move is teaching him to put things away in a box.

my sisters mare will touch whatever spot she is itchy on her body......so my sister itches it......then abby will touch the next itchy spot she has! and so it goes on!!!
quite funny to watch!! not sure who is dafter, her or the horse!

My two nod their heads in unison when i walk down the yard with their feeds, they have even taught the 2 year old next door to do it too. My mare will also shake her ears seperately whilst she is nodding and they are both whinnying at the same time. Quite comical.
My boy also has an obsession with having his bum scratched and will follow you round his stable and pin you against the wall then sway with his head cocked on one side. he also cocks his hind leg up if you scratch his belly. The vet was amused by this when he had to clean his sheath due to an infection and my boy stood on 3 legs in his element!!!
