My oldie is now on 1 Danilon per day for his arthritis which has got me thinking. Or probably overthinking! I have always done half in breakfast half in dinner anytime I've had to give a sachet of Danilon. But, should I be doing 1 sachet in one feed, ie 1 full sachet in breakfast only?! Does it make a difference? Or is half twice per day better? as it's kept 'topped up' ? Probably overthinking as usual!

I generally look at how they are doing! My old boy needed a full sachet before bed in winter as he was stabled and would stiffen up overnight. So max danilon overnight for him.

That's interesting, so you felt it benefitted him better by giving him it in dinner. I'm unsure how long it takes to get in to the blood stream.
It is better to give once a day, otherwise the concentration at any one point in time is too low to give much of an effect at such a low dosage. Danilon has a long duration of clinical response (it peaks at 11-15 hours post dosing)
Ah you've answered my question. So it would actually be more beneficial to give a full sachet in dinner.

I split when I’m giving one a day. Apart from anything else it’s easier to hide half a sachet than a whole one!
But it just seems a better idea to me, surely a lesser dose more often would keep a more consistent pain level.

Not really because you risk the dosage being too low to achieve actual pain relief- at higher dosages that’s fine (IE 1 sachet twice a day), but at 1 sachet a day (assuming it’s not a tiny pony).
