What is your routine, especially if you own your own land and are on your own. I have my own land 2 miles away and will probably bringing 2 of my 4 horses in overnight very soon.

What time do you turn out/bring in etc. Also how do you arrange it around small kids?

A friend up the road turns out at 9.30 and bring them in about 3, she has never had a problem and doesn't do late night checks.....

My routine:

-get up at 6:45am, get ready for work. Leave house at 7:30am and pop to horses on my way to work, give them their breakfasts and put a bale and a half of hay in field. I leave them to it to finish their breakfasts.

-5pm leave work, go straight to field and check the horses over, pull rugs forward and collect empty feed buckets, making sure they have enough hay left until morning. Im home by 6pm.

My 3 horses live out in private 5 acre field I rent. So I dont have any mucking out to do

7.30am feed breakfast, top up hay for the 2 staying in, add haylage to feeder in field. Take out 6 for the day about 8.00ish, muck out all stables. Go to work :-( - if I am home during the day I will skip out the 2 in if not 4.30 ish bring 6 in, check hay etc. 8.30 feed + skip out ( I love being over with them especially when its dark!!)

Up at 6.30, make kids lunch and make sure they have breakfast and a drink. Pop down to horses in pj's fleece jumper and coat!
