Daily Telegraph on main plaiting

Now there's food for thought....

...or is it just the Police trying to make out their investigations are making progress and are really just grasping at straws... hmmmmmm.... xx

i have seen how it is done, horses are grooming each other, mane gets in the way and gets swizzled around with the top lip of the horse who is nibbling.

i cant believe all the fuss about this

I have the picture on my phone that mandy sent me,and i rang her myself as we are literally just down the road from her and i wanted the facts, that is what i got

,trust me the plait shown above is a plait, mandy's welsh d,had what looked like a knot put in his mane with a very, very tiny plait up the back to hold it in place,as in you wouldnt see it!
If you believe you do if you dont you dont,i know we do and have taken extra security measures! If they want them they will get them, all we can do is try and make life as difficult as possible for them!

In addition to that, he has become really aggressive when handling him now, whereas before the plaiting incident, he was a cheeky chap but didn't have a bad bone in his body.

Admittedly I didn't want the snow to clear up, that way, if there are horse thieves about, the weather conditions make it very difficult!
wink.gif

I got an email on facebook from a Stolen Horses group I joined and it said that "14 ponies in total have been taken from back of a house, field running between railway and canal, ellis farm, kilby bridge leicestershire, please pass the word around"... then reeled off descriptions of said ponies! I hope they find them!

All we can do is take extra security measures, and keep each other informed as to anything suspicious?

Quite!! Yes I will definitely keep my ear out and keep you informed! Apparently there was an incident in Kirton recently where thieves were chased away from a field. I will try find out some more!

Mandy is far from pedantic! The most trustworthy, sensible horse lady I have ever come across to be honest! Many of times she has brought me down back to earth!

She is never caught up in idle gossip or the latest fad, she is very grounded and doesn't make things up!

Just reading through the thread again, I would like to just confirm that Mandy's two horses were in separate brick stables unable to touch/groom eachother. The way her stables are set up, I imagine it to be impossible for the wind to have caused a knotted plait in her yearlings mane indoors overnight. She had fully groomed him and went into her house at midnight after checking on them, she has a photo of him showing no plait. She went out at 8:15 a.m. the next morning, and a plait had appeared!

If those are the ones I heard about, they turned up two fields away...they'd gone for a bit of a wander...

My traditional cob must be in great danger - he has these in his mane all the time!

Just not long solo-combed my other horse beucase whilst I liked the idea of him having a longer mane, these knots were doing my head in and a longer mane on an Irish Sport horse just looked stupid.
