I was chatting with a family friend, and mentioned that I had always wanted to photograph a horse free on the beach. Co-incidentally, they have a relative who lives pretty much on the beach (well, an estuary, but still!!) and had always wanted to have their mare photographed loose on it. :biggrin3: Here are some of the results!!

It was amazing fun, and I don't know many horses sensible enough to be let loose in such a large area, and not go anywhere. All we did was use her field companion (who she is very attached to) as a bribe. They led her away from the companion, let her go, and she trotted or cantered back to her! It was amazing to photograph such a lovely horse in such an amazing environment. There were hundreds of pics, but these are my favourites.

Thanks guys :)

Me neither haha! She's a very sensible horse, and I think it helps that her field pretty much backs onto the sand, so if she decided to go home, there wasn't anything in the way to cause a problem. I still had several helpers armed with buckets of food and long ropes though just in case!!

Thankyou :) It was amazing, and everything just sort of came together. We were very lucky with the weather!

It's the Glaslyn Estuary in north wales :) You can see Portmeirion in some of the pics.

Sort of semi-pro/keen amateur, I like to photograph horses of a weekend, sometimes I make money and sometimes not!! :p That's a really good idea though! I didn't think of that!

Seriously beautiful photos! The fourth one is like something from a dream.
Absolutely agree with this! You should come and photograph my girl loose on Dartmoor. Im sure you would get better results than I do on my mobile phone lol. Shes an arab and she amazes me how I can let her go and she pootles off and then she might have a little excitable here and there but if I call or start moving then shes right back with me (most of the time!) Even when theres wild Dartmoor ponies around she stays with me. Horses are amazing:)
