I know someone on here has them and a few ppl know some stuff about them so just wanted to ask some questions...

Since someone was saying that these are the ONLY boots that protect against a tendon strike ive been a bit worried about the boots im using.

So am prepared to buy some Dalmar boots and would like some info on them from people who have them

Also are there any other boots which protect against tendon strike? And does this worry anyone else who just competes in say brushing boots or something?

I do everything in Prolite tendon boots at the moment as I feel they are they only boots ive found with good tendon support but am now thinkig they do not protect against tendon strikes

I have some of the air cooled ones they are very tough on the strike area. I bought them after my mares tendon injury after reccomendation They are very good. My daughter has some veredus ones they are very tough too

Dalmar are worth the money

The reason Dalmars are so good at preventing injury from a tendon strike is that the strike pad area is made from a special kind of carbon fiber which absorbs and dissipates the energy from the blow, and is extremely strong. So far as I know, no other boot has this kind of carbon fibre in it.

Most other boots have strike pads made from neoprene or other such padding - these give some protection but not much - think about the force with which such a strike would occur!

Do you use these for SJ and XC?

Was think of getting some open fronted tendons for SJing and still using the Prolites for XC, unless they do something I can use for both?!

Where did you get yours from?

The prolite boots have very very good effective strike protection, it is made of kevlar which is the same stuff bullet proof vests are made off. Combined with the prolite lining, they would be pretty good against a strike injury. The Dalmars are very cleverly marketed, but IMHO are overpriced as have heard the fit isnt that great and they arent that hard wearing. Prolite boots are still one of the most commonly used boots by pro's

I got mine from website. I use them for SJ But might use them this season XC havent decided yet. Mine fit perfect very neat.
my mare also sweats with boots on and she doesnt with these at all
I paid £30 for them which I thinks quite good??

I love the NEW xc boots (have loads of them!) but can't compare against the Dalmar as not seen these. The strike pad on the NEW seem very robust and I thought they were carbon fibre too??

I have the NEW boots in front, think they are the maximum performance boots, but my only worry is that with all the fluff they will lead to very hot legs?

I tried the air cooled ones but didn't like them at all, so am thinking of either the Dalmar ones as a possibility, or stick with the NEW ones for now.

Well I've tried many different boots due to the easy access to them!

Nothing IMHO beats the dalmar tendon boots (I am not interested in XC so haven't tried those)

NEW tried to copy Dalmar, but their strike pad in the Cabon boots was smaller. Plus their boots wouldn't fit my horses, but the dalmars do. My boys have lots of bone and a bit of feather.

I had the veredus ones and they were lovely and wel made, but very flimsy.

I have both the cheaper synthetic dalmars and the leather ones. The synthetic ones are used every time I ride and they have lasted very well with just a few marks where the horses have brushed and a weeny bit of wear on the very edge of the elastic. That's after 2 years!

I have a pair of the Dalmar Air Cooled boots (Front set)- I don't event!! but use them for fast work, hacking etc - they seem to fit both of my horses really well- they are large irish types. The boots are as light as a feather too and wash really well in the machine. I've seen copies of these boots and the copies aren't a patch on the proper ones!!.

I love my mare's NEW lightweight competition boots. They are the ones with the foam lining as I'm not a fan of the fleece lined ones as I think the tendons get too hot in those. Mine are 8 years old now and still going strong! The front ones have got a strong tendon guard and the hinds have a cannon guard. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set if these ever wear out.

My sisters pony hunts and events in his dalmar boots and we wouldn't be without them. He managed to break a brush fence clean in half at firle (course was closed for 30mins

) but there wasn't a mark on his legs thanks to the boots. They are quick to put on and come up really well in the washing machine. Unfortunately our foxhound thinks they're wonderful and has eaten 2 sets

but we wouldn't risk replacing them with a cheaper alternative.

Dalmar boots are definately worth the money. There are various copies on the market, but they haven't got the carbon strike pad and are heavier. Dalmar boots are so quick and simple to put on and wear and wash well.

I really rate these boots.

The NEW copy is nowhere near as good as the strike pad is very short and the fit and lining is different.

I have found the boots to wear well and look good. The black does fade but it's not a big deal for me.

I have open front tendon boots and fetlock boots which have fitted everything well.

THe racing model is my boot of choice though. So easy to use and clean and fit, Brilliant.

I have the event set too. The fronts are good, same as racing bar the extra front strike pad, tend to use the racing ones though as they are lighter and neater.

One word of experience though is that I wouldn't recommend the hind event boots. While in priciple the idea is good the way the fastening system is they are very very awkward to use and fit a very limited number of horses well.
