Dalmar xc boots, worth the money??

I'll be waiting to hear the answer too - I found some lovely Dalmar pony sized boots, but the PE ones that do come in pony size are no where near as nice.

Al has a pair for Reggie (went on a eBay selling spree!) and really likes them- his legs stay cool and are really well protected. He's quite a typical TB in that he's very sensitive and the boots are really good for him. Like a lot- saving for a back pair too!!

I recently bought some Dalmer x-country boots and they have been fab! Used them once for x-country school and at Eland Lodge BE on Sunday. My mares legs weren't sweaty like they used to be in normal brushing boots (:() and they never moved so a big thumbs up from me, so far :D! I have a pair for front and back.

Hope that helps!

A firend of mine has them and really raves about them. I usually use PE but the baby has very delicate skin so I am using NEW fleece lined ones instead on her as the PE rubbed a little. I must say, I had a good look at the Dalmar at burnham market and they did look verrrry nice. Tempted... but too expensive for me.

I have seen the carbon fibre shatter on a pair before now, when the horse clobbered a fence xc schooling...

Personally, I wouldn't be able to justify the money. I have the fleece lined N.E.W boots that have washed and worn for years now.

thanks loads guys,,,, my horse is quite a sensitive tb and have heard that the PE ones do rub some horses,, think i will be looking hard at the dalmar boots at badminto as havnt acutally seen them in the flesh and mayb have to buy one set, and save up for front ones!! If they are good they are worth it i guess!!

I love mine! have used them twice XC and they are light and easy to wash. I honestly didn't think the cooling thing would work but I have to admit my horses legs didn't feel hot when I took them off.

I haven't used PE ones so can't compare, would buy another set of Dalmar if I had a second horse.

We had a pair of overreach boots and the protective strip came out of the material covering and sliced right into the heel of our pony (involving vet's fees). Wrote to them to alert them to possible design fault and no response. Not a fan.

Having said that, it was 4 years ago so maybe the design has improved and I can't comment on the cross country boots.

i heard that the carbon fibre plate can crack under hard impact but this is what absorbs the impact and protects the horse, like my skull cap does when I get a nice fall!! and i know horseware are now making dalmar boots since last year so i would have thought any problems with design should be well on their way to being sorted. i use a pair of the racing boots on my tb, not because he races anymore, just because they're so light and really fit well.

I use premier equine boots with Dalmar over reach boots as they really do stay still. I found the premier equine ones turned round (even though they are called no turn boots!) havent used the other Dalmar boots but can recommened the over reach boots, very good.

Yes! Love mine. My local saddlery were selling them for about 40 quid! So lightweight and they fit beautifully on my mares legs. Would definitely buy them again
