Hi all. Does anyone else in the Kent area seem to be having trouble with rabbits digging up their paddocks at the moment? Any ideas how to get rid of them?
All the rabbits that I have been cursing this summer are now dying of myxomatosis, I was going to get someone in to shoot them but at the rate they are dying they will soon all be gone, my dog is helping them on their way now, it is the most horrid disease but at least it only harms the rabbits, there is usually someone around that will be happy to come in and take them out for you if you ask around locally.
Pest controllers, rough shooters, gundog clubs...........all of which will be sources of people who have the means and wherewithall to rid you of the pesky furries!
Thanks for the replays everyone .I now have someone coming in to try and shot them for me for free!! Obviously I'm not expecting moto also but we'll see. If anyone is around the Kent/Sussex and wants information to get hold of him let me know. I'll keep you updated of his progress.
Control really has to be done with all legal lethal methods at the same time.
For inconvenient isolated holes (I'd two in the round pen), I can recommend some ferret poo down the hole, then back fill. Dog poo might also work but I haven't tried that. In the absence of either, I'm sure you'll think of something! Paprika? Chilli powder? But killing them is the best solution -- shooting with a spot light, ferreting, dogging (the canine sort!), snaring, etc.
