Damage to stables in this weather

We lost a long run of close-boarded fencing in the last lot of wind. Our house roof is due to be replaced next year and I'm just hoping it stays in place until we can have it done properly.

Are stables were completely destroyed in the last winds, they also landed on the fencing and took that down as well. It was devastating as they were our everything, we had solar lights and collected water off the roof as the only lights and water supply. They were also the only place to tie them up and only dry area to stand. We're hoping to get a place on a yard in January to stay at until the weather improves and hope we can save up to replace them before next winter. Were just thankful the horses were out at the time.

Star_pants and zangels that is awful. I was hoping that people were going to be OK. I know we lost half a stable roof years ago and it is very depressing.

I lost some roof panels on my stables twice last year due to the winds, and my flashing once this year, things are locked down tight but we're right on the coast and when the wind blows, it really blows and we can have gusts 80-90 mph :-(

The wind here is horrendous !!

I think it's best for horses to be out in this type of weather, however I think mine are safer in as they have only electric fencing and that will probably be blown down by tomorrow.

Mine are in brick stables with sturdy roof so I think (hoping !) they should be fine, we have had worse wind and they have been fine so fingers crossed !

I think in general it is safer for horses to be out than in in this kind of weather. When I had massive trees (30 m +) cut down I put mine out in the field next to where the tree was being cut down as they could run away, snort, watch the trees coming down etc. I think they would have been very stressed if locked in the stable.

Lost some fencing and some trees. One tree behind the stables has broken in half and luckily the top part fell backwards and not forwards onto the stables

Gosh, feel our problem was insignificant compared to what's happened elsewhere!

Just glad everyone plus horses are OK though.

We had a few saplings on the hedge come down and had to get a blokey/friend with a chainsaw to remedy the situation. Horses were munching happily, and everyone OK.

The poor guinea fowls up in their favourite pine tree must have had one helluva night tho' - tree was waving around like sails on a ship this morning; but, daft things, it was their choice to go up there in the first place :)

Well - that's all our new expensive trellis gone - but compared to some people a very minor problem. I wonder if this is the pattern of things to come. I do hope not!

Mine is in, in a brick barn, well maintained by YO, so hopefully all will be well. No big trees in the vicinity either - we are v lucky as v windy round here today too!

We had bad wind and rain during the week on Wednesday. More like a tornado which lifted the 20ft barn up and onto the block of stables with the horses inside.

It was horrific :-( horses amazingly unharmed apart from cuts and bruises but were stuck for hours. My lad has been living out in the field but the lovely farm owner has partitioned part of a barn off for him and his field friend to come in at night.

OMG! So glad all the horses are OK!

Had to chuckle at the guinea fowl up the pine tree, ours choose to roost in a bare sycamore tree !
We are bracing ourselves for this storm - yet to reach us, though we had 2" snow today. Had 3 trees down in last weeks, the trampoline ended up tangled in the horses gate (thank god for the chain around it) and a horse trailer parked in yard with the brake on had been pushed 90 degrees in a different direction.
Good luck to everyone, and I gather we are due more high winds and stormy weather on Friday.
