My horse is really lame (4/5) on one front leg. She went for xrays on Wednesday and one of the sesamoid bones is cresent moon shaped (ground or broken away) a slight beginning of a hairline fracture to the front of the cannon bone and 'wool stuff' as the vet describes it accounting for all the swelling (which looks like higher up windgalls) and pushes through side to side when squashed down.
She is on 2 danilon a day, still 4/5 lame and she is a 24YO ex comp horse. She is in high spirit, bright eyed and in good health in every other way.
It breaks my heart to see her hobble round but the vet has advised 1 month R&R.....will this help or am I 'flogging a dead horse' so to speak. I would NEVER want her to suffer unduely but the vet seemed unsure when I mentioned putting her down.....will she get better?
