Went up to the yard this morning, found Mo standing at the back of his stable petrified and soaked. The pipe for his water drink was split and his whole stable was swamped.

Got water turned off (automatic drinker) and moved him into a dry stable. Checked the hole in the pipe and its right down at the floor and is a clean cut.

Phoned YO who started shouting and said that my f'in horse was a curse and id have to repair it myself. I was shocked at the way he talked to me. He said my horse must have kicked it, i said that he couldnt have as the hole was at the floor and is a straight line cut. Also there are no marks on the wall behind from a horse shoe, nor was there any dent in the pipe. He said he didnt care, it was my horse that kicked it and caused it to burst.

Mo now freaks out if water is about, had to fill buckets of water and when he heard the hose he reared right up (not at all like him).

God knows how much hes going to charge me for this now, might start tying mine at the side of the road like travellers lol

Just a suggestion as i dont really know, as i am not up a rented yard but isnt that the YO's problem? I dont know but surely he should have insurance on damages caused? And surely, if done properly the pipe shouldnt run down the stable but are designed to go through the wall so all that is in the stable is the actual automatic drinker? So maybe your horse grabbed it and pulled it out. You could turn it around and say he owes you money for your bedding for not providing safe enough (and not maintaining) the equipment!
My automatic filling water butt in the field did the same, the pipe froze, caused pressure and the pipe shot out from the connection causing a big flood. But neither of the horses caused it...

Its just that the damage is right down at the bottom of the pipe, the pipe comes out of the floor and runs up the wall to the drinker, its the same in all stables. Mo is never known to kick but i thought if he had then there would be marks on the wall from his shoes.

I was told that there was yard insurance when i moved but found out before christmas that there wasnt. Ive been trying to find a new place since then.

The same hose bust before alot higher up, again he blamed it on our horse, however it was only a pin hole and he repaired it. Only took him 3 weeks, and that was with me nagging.

If i thought that Mo caused it then i would say so, will try and get a picture tomorrow and let yous see it

Going to see another yard soon, its a bit further away but i dont care.

What an unpleasant YO !!!!
My YO will fix anything does not matter who has caused the damage.....And if your YO is handy it wont take nor cost him much to fix the pipe,he sounds lazy to me

Thinking with a YO like that.... and no insurance....

I'd be searching a bit harder for the new yard!!

Sounds like YO should get a visit from local authority...who just want to "inspect his premises & insurance cert's"
