Dammit!!! Leave it? ring vet? What should i do?

The door to my 6 month old Rottie's crate wasn't shut properly last night and shes managed to get out and eat a CD case, a pack of airwaves chewing gum and a rubber glove. She seems fine in herself but i cant help but worry. Should i wait and see if it comes out the other end? What would you lot do?
 
Airwaves is probably the safest chewing gum if a dog has to eat any so that isn't a worry. Sharp bits of a cd case would give cause for concern as would the impaction possibilities of a rubber glove.
I would phone the vet.
 
personally i would ring the vet but i am a bit of a worrier... they may be able to advise if you should feed as normal or maybe something light. good luck hope all is ok
 
Have called. They've said i should monitor today, give a light meal of something like scrambled eggs tonight and check poo for bits of glove/album. If she looks in pain or is constipated then to take her in. Does that sound like reasonable advice?

It doesn't have xylitol listed as an ingredient.

As above watch for any behaviour change but I wouldn't change her diet - just give smaller meals and moisten before feeding.

That sounds like perfect advice. You'd be surprised just how resilient dogs are, and the bigger that they are, so the more rubbish that they can consume!!

mine ate a sock which came out whole (god knows how)!.... a stone which cost £3500 and a hairdryer....


it does some out providing its not big enough to get stuck


just watch for any straining and stretching... that were all our signs :)
 
Their is little you can do when a time period has passed to be fair just be on pooh watch duty:D and as suggested just be vigilent and watch out for vomiting or lethargy/depression as this is what usually comes.
It can take a few days to get to that stage, they will generally still eat but bring it back undigested almost immediately or not eat at all and the same with water (straight back up) and go pretty lethargic/depressed.
Is the CD cover actually all eaten? or just chewed into bits?
she is a bigger girl so lets hope it can all pass through ok.

Random sharing, one of the most common ops we get at work for foreign object obstruction is dummies (in staffies), usually puppies:D
 
My Dads dog ate a sock, which also came out whole!

My old dog ate part of my 18 carat gold Cartier love cuff! I had to wait to get it back and disinfect it thoroughly!

CD case isnt all gone but at least half has, the rest was just chewed to pieces! Bad dog!
 
A recent one I heard was the finger-kick of a vibrating/electric collar (looks like a little ring), came out whole and still works perfectly!!!

I'll not bore you all with the 'two pairs of tights, an emergency hysterectomy and a very expensive near death experience' story again :p

Hope the pupster is OK, as others, look out for lethargy/dullness, lack of appetite and the rest.
 
Sorry to divert the subject again, but one for the pervs, if you ever get into Schutzhund/IPO with your dog, if you're looking to buy a 'bite pillow' DON'T GOOGLE IT!!!!!

Sorry to disappoint but it's nothing kinky ;) Picklenash is right, it's a bracelet. Thankfully it reappeared unharmed and the dog was none the worse for it. Have since sold it to fund a saddle, never mentioned the ordeal it had been thru :)
