Ive advertised my exracer for a pittance and all i get in replys are does he come with tack and rugs? Er no he doesnt at that price! Im sat waiting for the ' can i loan him?'
 
I am sure you won't have long to wait lol. I see this all the time on FB. The people who want horses for virtually nothing are the people you would not sell them to. Good luck with your sale.
 
Surely BIG BOLD LETTERS in the advert saying NO TACK OR RUGS INCLUDED and STRICTLY NO LOANS would sort the issue out? :confused:

Aren't adverts supposed to have as much information in them as possible to avoid confusion and cut down on time wasting?
 
I have to admit when I was younger my first loan horse was advertised for sale and I rang and asked if they would loan him. I think a lot of people think unless it says 'No loans' in the advert it's worth asking, the same with tack, unless it says 'No tack' I can't see the problem with asking. It's better to ask before viewing than waste every bodies time.
 
For £300 I'd probably only expect two legs! That's a really low price, I don't think you could get just tack for that, never mind a horse!

Good luck with the sale, I hope you find the right buyer.
 
He windsucks hence the low price, out would have been considerably higher if he didnt. He is good to do in all ways and a complete plod.i thought he would have been snapped up by now.

I expect any ridden horse currently in work to come with tack that fits as standard.

I wouldn't loan but I'd always enquire about trial at mine or theirs.

State in the advert if you aren't offering things.

If I saw a horse advertised for that little, I would assume that it had big problems and the owner just wanted rid! Try asking a bit more, you are likely to only attract the wrong people at that price. :)

If you only want £300 do the horse a favour and sell it to the meat man.

Really, what kind of calls do you expect to receive?

EDT: windsucking is no reason to advertise it for £300.

If it's a good horse, advertise it for its worth.

I have a friend advertising a six month old foal.
He has been asked if she is broken to ride and if she is safe on the roads!
 
Tbh i think hes priced realistically in the current market especially coming into winter.hes not going to be a world beater but is safe to hack. No big problems at all except the windsucking.

I'm actually finding the 'Gah rubbish people calling about my horse for sale...here, let me describe the ad word for word' posts that are getting more & more prevalent totally tiresome.

You know what OP if you advertise a horse for peanuts you are going to attract monkeys.
 
He looks very nice. Honestly, I would advertise him for more myself £1,000 poss even £2,000 if he really is fab safe hack, sound and good in traffic. Flesh the advert out with a bit more information. Does he windsuck in the field?

I am tempted myself, assume the £300 includes delivery to Surrey, keep for a year etc etc :D:cool:
 
Got to agree,I wouldn't look twice at an advert for £300! Would assume it had major faults!! I would def put price up if its a safe ride and good to do.
 
I think 500 would be more reasonable, some people think vices make a horse worth nothing but I had a cribber on loan and other than the odd ruined fence rail it made no difference whatsoever! I have advertised him for his owner at 995 just because I know we will get lower offers but don't want to advertise him too low.
 
For that price I'd also expect there to be a major issue. A nice horse still able to work who just windsucks doesn't go for only £300. Your going to get a dealer but him and sell him for at least £1500 and your have no say in where he ends up.
Put the price up to at least £1500 including tack if he's a safe and nice horse.
