I am going to have to start riding my 4 y/o in the mornings as she just freezes, then starts turning herself inside out when a fly lands on her whilst hacking.

At first I thought she was napping back to the yard, but it's really not. I have tried all manner of flyspray, ride on fly rugs, masks etc. Nothing is working well enough :(

Anyone have any other ideas? Or any idea what time in the morning I should aim at to avoid the pesky blighters?

Yes we do have an indoor, I'm going to try it this afternoon.

She's not long backed and had got a bit stale and confrontational in there so I haven't ridden in there for a while! Just been hacking, but that's not working out now either!

I'm seriously considering boxing her down to the beach but there are time restrictions this time of year.

I am on the horse by 6am and masses of flies by 7am. Not too many horse flies at that time though. They start about 8am I find.

My 5 year old ISH is exactly the same last year when hacking he would start broncing when he couldnt cope wiyh them hes starting to deal with them better this year just constantly nodding but seems like they are attracted to him more than any other i am debating trying a mask on him for riding but he has one on in the field and he still stands there nodding! I think either riding as early or late as possible is best
