I'll cut it short - little horse lame, farrier came on Tuesday and ruled out any obvious soreness/abcess etc. He does sometimes stand with his legs a little far out the front which has concerned me a little, but not caused any problems (yet). His feet do grow a little 'oddly', farrier cut back as far as he could and put on natural balanced shoes, and suggested I pop him on bute if I had any. I gave him 2 danilon that night (but then decided maybe I shouldn't go that route and should visit the vet), next morning he was equally unsound. I then decided to book an appointment at horsepital, which is for tomorrow but I am a little uneasy about travelling the 40 miles with a trailer in this wind. This morning he looked 100 times better. Am unsure whether horsey feels better, or whether this is a false reading following 2 danilon some 36 hours ago.

Any thoughts please...........should say absolutely no visible external reason for the lameness, no tenderness or swelling or heat anywhere.....................

danilon is almost identical to bute, so same working and wear off time.....

if he is too sore to travel without bute/danilon id give it and accept you may have to explain when you get there what you ahve given when etc.
If he is "alright" its ur call as to whether travelling using it is worth it or not

Just remember to take a note of when and how much you give if you do before you go. This will help the vets with the diagnosis when you get to the horsepital!
