I am currently giving my retired brood mare 1 to 2 sachets of danilon a day to help her cope with severe arthritis in her (near) knee. as a result of favouring the other leg she developed very bad ringbone in her off fore. I also use magnets. She is well in herself, has a good appetite & keeps in good condition I know she is on borrowed time but want to keep her as comfy as pos, while she still has good quality of life. Danilon is v expensive from my vet any idea? She will not take bute in any form

What about a bute alternative such as Zero Bute from Feedmark, No bute (not sure who sells it) or Devils Claw?

None of these supplements will be cheap although may work out more cost effective than Danilon?

Would your vet give you a prescription for you to buy online? From my vet it is £68 a box, online £47 plus prescription charge £9 (prescription lasts 6 months).

which on line company do you use ? this might save a little as I'm sure my vet would give me a prescription thanks

Someone at my yard apparently gets Danilon for £30 a box, having paid for a prescription from her vet first. No idea where she gets it from at that price though or if that's even true!

I pay £50 a box from my vet.

I wouldn't bother with stuff like Cortaflex or No Bute, pointless IMHO when you have a horse with such an advanced condition.
