Danilon - palatability?

Jenny has to go on to bute for her spavin but she's a s*d for not eating her feed when there's something in it and just wondered if danilon is much better than bute for getting them to actually eat the stuff.
Thanks to anyone who's tried both, and which did you find better.

Danilon seems fine, never had a problem with it even with a horse which wouldn't touch bute.

Danilon as it's sugar coated - my horse loves it!

My horse can sniff out bute a mile off and won't eat the feed with it in or any other feed or titbits for days after trying to feed it!

BUT he eats Danillon no problem

Apparently it doesn't convert into bute until in the stomach! Happy days!

Phew thats all encouraging. Whenever she's needed bute in the past I've had to disguise it with apple juice but as she's going to be on this for a little while, I don't think its practical to keep pumping her full of apple juice really!

danilon is more palatable but the same drug so it is good for horses who are awkward for eating bute.

My non fussy mare wont eat her feed if Danilon is in it. I either give in a jam sandwich or mix with molasses.

Sorry but I have to second this, my lad will NOT consider eating his feed with Danilon in it. He doesn't even take a mouthful, one sniff will do

We have one that wont touch bute or danilon in her feed. When she needs bute we get the paste in a syringe but it is more expensive.

sugar coated granules - both of mine wolf it down and one of mine will not touch bute unless it's in jam sandwiches.

Mine won't touch Bute with a bargepole, under ANY circumstances, but no probs with Danilon

mine can sniff out bute before I even open the sachet and put it in his feed - eats danilon merrily! Used to have to mix bute powder with custard powder and hot water and syringe in down!! Danilon makes my life a hell of alot easier!

I have a bute hating suspicious TB fussy feeder too (even spat it out when syringed) but have no problems with Danilon. Phew. Also years ago a vet gave me some sugar coated bute tablets for a small pony with laminitis to help with getting accurate dose - i think 5 tabs equalled one sachet. He ate them from my hand with a couple of polos which was brilliant. Sorry i cant recall what they were called though.

Really glad Jenny likes Danillon. I've got a very fussy TB who I hand fed her breakfast once because it had bute in and she wouldn't eat it! The vet gave us some Danillon and it was much easier - still fussy so disguised it with grated carrot in every feed but I got it into her which was the main thing.

Sugar coated and they inhale it!

2 very fussy feeders as well!
