Finished work at half four and tried to beat the light home and failed lol.

Did the horses in the dark and guess what...my special girl, Samba, is scared of the bloomin torch light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Booo to the clocks going back

End!!! :D

Boo indeed, its ming rain here too, working up the motivation to get mine done and it will also be the 1st time by torch light, thankfully they don't need to come out the field so if they are scared they will just have to get over it...or I'll end up skiing in the mud trying to keep hold....

Yeah its really naff, but I work flexi hours so can go ride during the day :D
My daughter has to wait until after school and its getting dark by the time we arrive - thank god for flootlit arenas I say ! She hacks on a weekend then pretty much like everyone else.
I think horses get used to a quieter way of life during the winter riding wise, where we are looking forward to the spring, they are probably thinking hey we'll live with the snow and lots of haylage, we dont have to earn our keep that way lol x

I was thinking the same thing today. My daughter gets home at about 4.45pm and by the time she has changed her clothes it was almost dark. Luckily the yard is well lit and the arena has floodlights - but evening hacking has stopped and all day turnout has stopped as of today too - have to come in by 2pm.

Hacking and riding as soon as it's light in the morning now for us. No lights on the arena so early mornings and weekend rides are the only choice. I don't mind when the hours are, but I would much rather lovely long light days all year round!!

I was thinking this morning as I rode how nice it was to be able to ride before work again then when I walked out of the office tonight I thought, oh crap, messing about in the dark for evening stables! Guess can't have it all ways but it would be nice.

I have to leave work at 8 and I just cannot get functioning by then let alone ride in the dark at 5am.

So glad mine are just happy hackers. And are very much the get on and go types....welll shall see what Samba is like lol.

I have been using my headtorch for a while already as I dont get to my horse until 7pm and have no lighting at all. He is well used to the head torch and gets ready, queueing by the fence in readiness for his tea and to be put to bed.
It is grim, especially stepping out of the door from work in the dark...then an hours drive home...hey ho...roll on spring!!!

i was going to post the same thing .doesnt help that one of mine is scared by the torch so i try and get them in before total blackness.luckily i work part time and daughter finishes college early one day but even so limited riding and muddy fresh horses == no fun in my book . keeping myself going on these long evenings ordering christmas pressies though.
