If you are going to the Royal, give a great cheer for DARKHORSE FRED and BARNEY in the double harness scurry.
The ponies are current NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, a title they won in their first season in competition - some feate as this is usually the culmination of a successful career, not won by novices.
"Fred" is actually Caspian Arabian gelding Darkhorse Galliano, and his partner "Barney" is a Welsh pony drafted in to make the pair. Their name comes because they are not matched in anything but stride, being a whole four inches different in height and one very fine and elegant and the other a real "Barney Rubble".
Give them a cheer and look out for them at HOYS.
