Just a couple of weeks into horse ownership, Neddy is lame!

Thankfully I don't think it's bad, he's not properly limping but his front-right seems a bit tender, I can't feel any heat anywhere and hoof looks normal (as far as I can tell), so perhaps he pulled it a bit in all this awful mud. He's getting some time off and if it's no better soon, vet will be coming!
Hopefully it'll be like last time, the only time I've known him lame, and go away in a couple of days!!

Feel a little deflated :( It was all going so well last week and the week before!

Still, he came in and had a lovely groom and I even managed a (messy) running plait :D

Aaaw your new toy broke! Just kidding, I do hope it's nothing serious and he's feeling better soon. What bad luck for it to happen right now though!

Nice plait too - I tried to do one of those recently... won't be happening again..!

Aww, he just wanted an excuse to stand around eating hay and being fussed by his new mummy :D he certainly looks pleased with himself

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery

Haha, I do feel like I've just broken a new toy! But a new toy with feelings, which makes it worse!

It wouldn't surprise me if he did slip, or pull something. The fields are slippery and it's boggy by the gate. All this rain is really putting a downer on everything and now I can't even try and make it better by riding!

My Shetland pony has strained something he is on box rest for 12to 14 days and is on bute .this happened on Christmas Day.nice present from him.

I can top your present.. Went up the yard on Christmas morning to find both horses gone! Cue heart attack, panic attack... The wooden fencing had been blown down, cue great escape mission for the horses. Found them down the road looking innocent at a near by fireworks factory... Bl**dy horses!

Awwww...Poor Ned! My friend has a theory that something like this always happens in the first few weeks of horse ownership... she loaned her mare for 5 years with no problems, bought her and within a few weeks she's done a tendon. Spookily it does seem to have happened to a few people we know too! That mare made a full recovery though and so will Ned! Sending you both hugs. You aren't missing much in this horrid weather anyway!

Thanks guys! I'll pass on your well wishes :)

He also got a couple of his home-made treats to keep him happy :)

ImmyS - I think I would have died on the spot! I nearly started crying when YO moved Ned into another field and I didn't see him right away!

meandmrblue - Oh no! I hope the poor dear recovers soon!

Poor Ned!
Teach him to say please and give kisses instead, that will make everything better! (or just give kisses cause he's got a poorly leg)
Hope you both feel better soon.
