My first post, so please be gentle ;-)

For the past couple of years we've been going down to Exmoor for a weekend riding holiday. We've stayed a the Porlock Vale hotel, so as well as fantastic riding terrain we've also enjoyed excellent accomodation.

This year we're looking for a slight change of scene and will probably head down to Dartmoor. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for accomodation (with stabling) in Dartmoor.

Many thanks!

Hello and welcome,

Try Googling for horse bed and breakfast on dartmoor, that could come up with something.

Here are a few numbers to begin with:

BURNVILLE FARM - 01822 820443
LITTLE BIDLAKE FARM &
DARTMOOR HORSE TRAILS - 01837 861233
Or hire a horse for an hour or more and view the moor on horse back;-

RIDING STABLES

CHOLWELL, Mary Tavy, Tavistock - 01822 810526

EASTLAKE , Belstone, Okehampton - 01837 52513

SKAIGH, Belstone, Okehampton - 01837 840917

Henryhorn on here lives in that area and will probably have lots of ideas and info.

Good Luck.

Hello and welcome!
It depends on what sort of accommodation you like.
Top of the scale but with fantastic facilites and it's own stables is Bovey Castle. (look for their website)
There are lots of farms doing accom either self catering or B and B on cartwheel or devonfarms both o which have websites.
Some hotels make you really welcome and your dog too, Holne Chase is one I can throughly recommend (did you see the tv series about The Forgotten Farm?) that is the Hotel the cottage owners also own.
If I were choosing for me I would go for Bovey Castle (ridiculously expensive be warned) or Holne Chase. HC has superb hacking and a big river running through the grounds, wild Dartmoor is within minutes on a horse too.
If you see anywhere you fancy pm me, we had holiday cottages and have hrses so know where is ok and where to avoid!! HH
